For my sculpture, I am using the noun rediscover to show how memories can remind someone of their past. My idea was to use water and a wave to show someone breaking the surface. This metaphor will resemble someone remembering their past and the ripples in the water will be an echo of their past slowly coming back. So far, I have carved an organic shape of wood to resemble a puddle of water. From there I have used a chisel to get the ripples of the water. I have also sculpted clay to get the general form of the wave. I found it challenging to make the shape of the wave, since it has so many delicate pieces and is really smooth looking. I decided on making the base out of clay and adding beads and other small objects on top to make the water droplets. So far I have enjoyed the project and it is interesting using these new techniques to create this piece.
