Summer Project Process Post - July

This month I started painting my piece. First I applied a layer of paint in blocks to get the generic color and value down. Then I started going in with more detail on each item, establishing a broader range of colors. I found my favorite part of this process to be making the highlights and shadows. The gummy bears where really fun to paint because of the vibrant colors and the reflections. I struggled painting some of the simpler items as they seemed almost cartoony to me. Compared to the more complex objects, the buttons and crayons lacked complexity. This made me wonder if they stood out in the piece.
